We’ve all been there. That heart thudding moment when we realize a picture that was meant to be private was accidentally posted on the newsfeeds of thousands of our followers. Or that tweet which we thought was hysterical at the time turned out to be quite inappropriate in the light of day. Unfortunately for celebs, their tweets live on even after their deletion. Lucky for us, they provide us with an ample amount of entertainment for years.
While many celebrities claim hackers are to blame for their regretted and often insensitive tweets, the unlucky few who’ve sent their private photos out into the twitter-sphere have a more difficult time shifting the blame. Even thirty seconds on twitter is enough to give a topless photo immortality.
10. Anthony Weiner’s Weiner
In late May of 2011, New York congressman Anthony Weiner accidentally tweeted a faceless photo of himself in boxers with an impressive…ummm…package. Meant to be sent in a private message to a 21-year-old college student in Seattle, Weiner perpetually denied the allegations, and insisted the photo was posted by a hacker. It’s not until more scandalous photos are released which reveal his face that he admits to using social media to have sex-based conversations with several young women.
While he claimed to have never had any physical contact with these women, he did admit to not knowing how old they were when he spoke to them. When one ended up being a 17-year-old from Delaware, he was forced to resign. While technically what he did wasn’t illegal, the fact that his wife of less than a year was carrying their child and Weiner’s obvious obsession with much younger women turned the public against him, and he has yet to live down his decisions.
9. Topless Tori Spelling
Also in 2011, Tori Spelling’s own husband let the world see a bit more of her than they bargained for. Dean McDermott exposed his wife’s bare chest by tweeting a photo of their son with her assumingly breastfeeding in the background. While the couple claimed it was an accident and that they were embarrassed, it may not have been a coincidence that it happened right around the time they were promoting the return of their Oxygen reality show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.
On the bright side, Spelling was pleased the photo occurred at that time in her life because, “if you are ever going to have someone tweet a picture of your boobs, I would rather it happen now that any other time because when you are nursing, your boobs look better than ever, bold beautiful.”
8. Cee Lo Green Tweets Homophobic Slurs
On the downfall of his popularity, Cee Lo Green apparently took an editor’s criticism of his live show to heart when City Pages music editor Andrea Swensson had some not-so-nice things to say in her concert review. In an act of public vengeance, Green tweeted, “I respect your criticism but be fair! People enjoyed last night! I’m guessing ur gay? And my masculinity offended u? well f—k U!”
While he eventually apologized, his explanation seemed to make things worse. His excuse was that he thought Andrea was a man. So, he’s not only the kind of person who throws low blows on Twitter like a teenage girl but he’s also the kind of person who assumes only a man would be a successful editor capable of disliking his work.
7. Drake Bell Can’t Handle Jenner’s New Identity
It seemed everyone had something to say when Bruce Jenner came out as Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair. Even former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell. He took it upon himself to tweet to his followers, “Sorry…still calling you Bruce.”
Hi followers stood up for the former Olympian, hilariously tweeting things like “Sorry…still calling you irrelevant,” and “This is why you’re poor.” While Bell neglected to apologize, he deleted his tweet and offered an explanation by saying, “I’m not dissing him! I just don’t want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time! Chill out!”

2. Rihanna Claims She Boinked Jay Z
Rumors of a feud between Beyonce and Rihanna have been stirring for years, supposedly feuding over Jay Z’s friendship with Rihanna. This time last year Beyonce was overheard shouting at Jay Z in a sushi restaurant in L.A. saying, “That bitch, Rihanna!” A few months prior, Beyonce’s sister Solange infamously attacked Jay Z in an elevator, which was rumored to have been about his relationship with Rihanna.
The feud reached an all-time low when Rihanna tweeted, “Since we spilling tea…@Beyonce I fucked your husband…BOOM.” It was later deleted, but not before it made its rounds on every celebrity entertainment site. Talk about low blows.
